Avana Donates 100,000 Meals!

Avana donates 100,000 meals to the Regina Food Bank

This October, a coalition of Regina businesses, organized labour, schools, and athletes are rallying to raise one million meals for the Regina Food Bank.  Entering the final 10 days of the campaign, Avana, a Regina-based real estate company has come through with a 100,000-meal donation to the Mosaic Million Meal Challenge.

“No one should have to go hungry. These are tough times and we Reginans need to stick together,” says Jennifer Denouden, President and CEO of Avana. “We hope that our contribution to the Million Meal Challenge helps inspire colleagues and friends in Regina to give what they can this month to support our city.”

Avana was recently ranked No. 10 on the 2020 Growth List of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies compiled by Canadian Business and Maclean’s. It is the highest-ranked company from Saskatchewan on the Canada-wide list.

With COVID-19 requiring the Food Bank’s annual Food Drive to adapt to the pandemic, CEO John Bailey said it was time to get creative and bold. “We know Regina people never back away from a challenge. We have seen businesses of all sizes step-up, and individuals, too, including athletes of all ages donating the value of their jersey numbers. It has been inspirational.”

The Mosaic Company seeded an initial donation of 150,000 meals, and today with 10 days remaining and Avana’s gift, the Food Bank has reached a milestone of 700,000 meals donated.

Bailey believes that with Avana’s donation and the recent momentum, the finish line is in sight. “People have been so generous. If someone reads this has some money left over from returning their bottles, or a business is having a good month of sales, we hope they might consider helping us over the finish line to help feed one million meals.”
