Position Overview:
Avana is hiring a Maintenance Manager. The successful applicant will be a professional, self-reliant, trustworthy and efficient individual who has endurance, ability to follow instructions and commitment to safety, responsible for the landscaping and site management of Avana’s property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the landscaping and yard maintenance for the owners properties.
- Overall site cleanliness management and landscaping maintenance, including but not limited to the weed control, seasonal sprinkler blowouts, exterior waterline checks, driveway sealing, etc.
- Tackling any smaller landscaping projects that may arise.
- Research the best products to use for weed control as well as what is pet and resident-friendly.
- Maintain small engines and tools/equipment as needed.
- Enforce and follow site safety rules to minimize work-related accidents and injuries.
- Work collaboratively with other Maintenance and Site Managers to support all maintenance needs throughout all Avana’s owned property assets.
- Reset codes on battery-operated, electronic-entry keypad deadbolts.
- Move out cleans of rental properties and/or appliances as required.
- Ice and snow removal of vacant residential and commercial properties sidewalks.
- De-ice and snow removal of commercial properties sidewalks.
- Attend and represent Avana at various community events and functions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Class 5 Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract. Ability to haul a trailer is an asset.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, possessing positive interpersonal skills
- Heavy lifting, working outdoors and manual labour tasks are a large focus of the role.
- Preference to work in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to excellence.
- Ability to work independently and self-schedule. Be efficient with time management.
- Pride yourself on high-quality work. Ability to be a team player.
- In this position, you will be required to work outside of the regular site hours, including evenings and weekends during busy seasons or times of the month.
Compensation Package:
- Remuneration Range: $40,000 – $65,000 based on education and experience.
- Benefits: Dental and medical benefits package. 80% of the cost is covered by Avana. Option for employee to purchase disability and life insurance.
- Group RRSP and RRSP Match Program: 2% of salary matched in year two, 3% of salary matched in year three, 4% of salary matched in year 4 and 5% of salary matched in year 5. Avana’s matched portion vests 12 months after first contribution.
- Vacation Entitlement: 4 weeks.
- Annual Bonus: Opportunity to earn up to 10% of salary as annual bonus.
- Parental Leave: Inclusive of four (4) months of salary top up, with ongoing benefits based on the terms stated above. RRSP matching will not apply for the duration of the period of leave. If an employee provides resignation within the 24 months of the paternal leave return date, the total amount of the salary top up will be repaid to Avana.
- Probation Period: The probation period is 90 days from the start date listed.
- COVID-19 Protocol: As of October 31, 2021, Avana requires all employees to be double vaccinated.
- Resignation Notice: A resignation notice of 30 days is required to be provided to Avana if for any reason the employee is to resign from the organization.
