Position Overview:
We are hiring a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to support Avana’s large-scale growth plans. The successful applicant will succeed in a fast-paced, progressive career, enjoy working with people in a team environment and lead with excellence. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will report directly to our Manager, Marketing and Communications and is a full-time salary role. This role will support key functions of the Marketing and Communications Division in multiple aspects. With the Marketing and Communications Division housing many disciplines, this individual will experience and assist many facets of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy and Communication
- Collaborate with all Divisions to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Creative Lead in creating marketing materials, including brochures, presentations, and promotional collateral.
- Plan and assist with internal and external events for Avana.
- Assist in coordinating sponsorship opportunities and events.
- Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and identify new marketing opportunities.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, suggesting enhancements.
- Monitor budget allocations for designed areas.
Social Media Management
- Develop and maintain Avana's presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Create engaging content calendars using tools like Sprout for effective social media posts.
- Monitor social media channels, responding promptly to inquiries and feedback.
- Analyze social media performance metrics and adapt strategies accordingly.
Copywriting and Content Creation
- Craft compelling content for diverse marketing channels such as websites, blogs, emails, newsletters and press releases.
- Maintain consistency with brand guidelines in all written content.
- Edit and proofread materials for accuracy and clarity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders for content creation, including property listings for prospective residents.
Media Relations
- Create and implement annual communication plans for external communications.
- Prepare and distribute news releases and feature stories for media relations.
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets while upholding the company's brand image.
- Support crisis communications management and capture event photographs.
Project Management
- Create and implement annual communication plans for external communications.

Marketing Excellence
- Evaluate marketing materials and campaigns using marketing metrics.
- Edit written copy and ensure the quality of marketing materials.
- Provide written content for various marketing purposes.
- Manage digital advertising campaigns.
- Assist in the development and execution of regional marketing plans for programs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of three (3) years in a marketing position working in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
- A certificate, diploma, degree, or equivalent in marketing or business administration is preferred.
- An exceptional communicator both verbally and in writing.
- Critical thinking ability with solution-focused outcomes.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving ability, strategic thinking, excellent time management, and great interpersonal skills.
- Excellent technical skills, including the ability to learn new software.
- Proficient in managing budget activities and monitoring office expenditures.
- Approachable and collaborative in order to build strong working relationships.
Compensation Package:
- Benefits: Dental and medical benefits package. 80% of the cost is covered by Avana. Option for employee to purchase disability and life insurance.
- Pension: The Pension Plan will commence in your second year of employment. 2% of salary matched in year two, 3% of salary matched in year three, 4% of salary matched in year four and 5% of salary matched in year five.
- Vacation Entitlement: 20 business days per year. Must be accumulated prior to taking them.
- Annual Bonus: Opportunity to earn up to 10% of salary as an annual bonus.
- Parental Leave: Inclusive of four (4) months of salary top-up, up to a maximum $15,000 total, with ongoing benefits based on the terms stated above. Pension will not apply for the duration of the period of leave. If an employee provides resignation within the 24 months following the paternal leave return date, the total amount of the salary top-up will be repaid to Avana.
- Probation Period: The probation period is 90 days from the start date.
- Criminal Record Checks are required for all Avana employees prior to being hired. This is to be obtained at your expense and will not be reimbursed by the Employer.
