Position Overview:
The Planning & Performance Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and success of Avana’s internal performance management program, effectively supporting the implementation and management of a company-wide performance measurement and process improvement program. This is a collaborative, detail-oriented role, and an exciting opportunity to be involved in high-impact work for a performance-based, rapidly growing enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to the Senior Vice-President, Strategy, supporting the implementation, monitoring, and refinement of the performance management framework, all related performance data, and internal reporting.
- Execute the development, ongoing management, data input, and any required evolution of a company-wide and division specific performance dashboard, inclusive of KPI tracking and performance reporting.
- Accurately monitor, track, and report on all annual key performance indicators to support leadership in key business decision-making, inclusive of data reconciliation, analysis of overarching trends and patterns, and forecasting of the pre-identified performance metrics.
- Support the SVP, Strategy and other Senior Leaders in the ideation and content development of company-wide performance expectation policies and processes. Ensure that all documented processes are controlled, current, and readily available for stakeholders.
- Ensure effective collaboration and communication of the data and insights to the Senior Leadership Team in order to ensure relevant alignment with Avana's corporate culture.
- Work closely with HR to coordinate the preparation, execution, and analysis of comprehensive semi-annual employee performance reviews, utilizing Avana’s balanced performance review template and scorecard for operational performance reporting.
- Support the Senior Vice-President, Strategy in the development, maintenance, technology problem-solving, and execution of all aspects of the performance management lifecycle.
- Support the identification and use of appropriate software and applications for all required reporting and communications. This includes supporting front-end user experience and back-end operational efficiencies.
- Perform research for all program design aspects of the performance management and tracking framework, along with other data-gathering and key business improvement initiatives, to enable data-driven decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
- Prepare leadership communication and briefing materials for performance framework standards as well as monthly measurement reports and progress updates, to communicate with the various internal groups.
- On an as-needed basis, perform standard and advanced coordination and overall meeting support such as participating, taking meeting minutes as needed, and summarizing action items.
- Develop professional business presentations and analytic reports, as needed and requested by the Senior and Executive Leadership Teams.
- Support Senior and Executive leadership in the development, planning, and preparation of regular “State of the Business” updates.
- Provide analytical support for a range of initiatives to advance Avana’s strategic, business, and accountability processes, on an as-needed basis. This may include creating data standards and performance measurement guidelines for the various divisions of the enterprise.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Experience in performance management, process improvement, analysis, reporting activities, and business intelligence is considered an asset.
- Proven track record in project management who is able to design and take initiatives from abstract to concrete action and maintain positive momentum on project delivery.
- Able to manage competing, high-priority demands; prioritizing workload, managing projects, and multiple responsibilities against firm deadlines.
- Strong demonstration of analytical skills and ability to prepare executive-ready materials, including mastery of Google Workspace, Microsoft, and other digital performance software tools. Experience working in Google Data Studios or any Performance Management Systems is considered an asset.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Aptitude for well-contemplated decision-making capabilities.

- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Ability to establish credibility and rapport with stakeholders at all levels. High level of personal accountability and integrity.
- Excellent oral and written communication, analytical reporting, and presentation skills. Able to adjust communication style based on the audience.

Compensation Package:
- Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 based on education and experience. Salaries are reviewed annually in October.
- Benefits: Dental and medical benefits package. 80% of the cost is covered by Avana. Option for employee to purchase disability and life insurance.
- Pension: The Pension Plan will commence in your second year of employment. 2% of salary matched in year two, 3% of salary matched in year three, 4% of salary matched in year four and 5% of salary matched in year five. Avana’s matched portion vests 12 months after the first contribution.
- Vacation Entitlement: 20 business days per year. Must be accumulated prior to taking them.
- Annual Bonus: Opportunity to earn up to 10% of salary as an annual bonus.
- Parental Leave: Once an employee has worked a full year (12 months) at Avana, they are eligible for four (4) months of salary top-up to $15,000, with ongoing benefits based on the terms stated above. Pension matching will not apply for the duration of the period of leave. If an employee provides resignation within 24 months of the paternal leave return date, the total amount of the salary top-up will be repaid to Avana.
- Probation Period: The probation period is 90 days from the start date listed.
- COVID-19 Protocol: Avana requires employees to be fully vaccinated. Exemptions may be made for anyone who has a confirmed medical diagnosis with a doctor’s note.
- Criminal Record Checks are required for all Avana employees prior to being hired. This is to be obtained at your expense and will not be reimbursed by the Employer.
