Avana’s Empowerment Fund — Regina.
Avana is dedicated in our focus to uplifting and empowering women and children who are fleeing interpersonal violence. Our affordable housing suites serve as fresh starts for families in need of attainable, safe, quality housing. The Avana Empowerment Fund, guided in a strategic partnership between the Avana Foundation and YWCA Regina, assists single-mother families with supplemental funding to help them rent safe, attainable housing in great neighbourhoods. Pairing quality housing and a strong support system give vulnerable families a solid foundation to stabilize, heal, and grow.
The Help Us Help Her committee is a sub-committee of the Avana Foundation. This committee consists of individuals who are dedicated to facilitating fundraising and charitable giving to women and children in our community. Although support is greatly needed during the holiday season, it is important to us, at Avana, to recognize and contribute to the ongoing support for families within the community throughout the year.
Historically, the Help Us Help Her committee has focused on giving around the holiday season, delivering hundreds of winter essentials like snowsuits, mittens, toques, food hampers, and gifts to schools and families in Regina. However, our support has shifted to a year-round focus and with the generosity of our community partners and Avana family members, we will continue to extend our reach and support.
