Kindness & Compassion Are in Our DNA.

Avana carries out extensive charitable initiatives to give back to the communities we serve, dedicating focus and resources to
supporting advocacy work done through our non-profit, the Avana Foundation.

The areas of focus for the Avana Foundation include:

Avana’s Empowerment Housing Fund — Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence.

Avana is passionate about supporting women and children escaping domestic violence. Our affordable housing suites serve as fresh starts for families in need of attainable, safe, quality housing. The Avana Empowerment Housing Fund, guided in a strategic partnership between Avana and YWCA Regina, assists single-mother families with supplemental funding to help them rent safe, attainable housing in great neighbourhoods. Pairing quality housing and a strong support system give vulnerable families a solid foundation to stabilize, heal, and grow.

Avana’s Help Us Help Her Committee.

This annual initiative brings together a committee of dedicated women, dubbed the Help Us Help Her Committee, to facilitate fundraising and charitable giving to women and children in need. The committee has rallied community support to throw a gala-style holiday party during the Christmas season, bringing hope and joy to families who may not otherwise have the opportunity to celebrate the holidays. From a traditional holiday meal to games, nail painting, photo booths, and gifts, the committee is delighted to deliver the magic of the holiday season to guests.

During the 2020 holiday season, the Help Us Help Her Committee pivoted to designing a socially distant, mobile holiday giving program called Operation Mrs. Claus. Corporate donors and individuals contributed to this innovative campaign. Avana donated the use of a 22’ enclosed trailer, vinyl-wrapped with sponsor branding so that Operation Mrs. Claus could tour the streets of Regina and spread holiday cheer. Operation Mrs. Claus helped deliver hundreds of winter essentials like snowsuits, holiday food hampers, and gifts to schools and families of YWCA Regina and SOFIA House.
