REGINA FEMALE-LED REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER HOSTS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EVENT – REGINA, SK, March 8, 2022 – In celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, Avana, a Regina based real-estate developer and property management company, is gathering like-minded organizations and individuals to celebrate the achievements of women in our communities.
In line with the 2022 theme for International Women’s Day, “Break the Bias”, the event will shine a spotlight on uplifting and inspiring women to pursue goals without bias or barrier.
Guest speaker, Brandi Morin, known for her clear-eyed and empathetic reporting on Indigenous oppression in North America, is also a survivor of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls crisis. Morin uses her experience to tell the stories of those whose voices have been silenced.
For the last ten years, Brandi has specialized in sharing Indigenous stories, which have influenced reconciliation in Canada’s political, cultural, and social environments. Morin is one of Canada’s most prominent voices on Indigenous issues.
“International Women’s Day is an extremely important day for us at Avana, to have Brandi share her story with us is a tremendous honour”, says Nicki Ackerman, CEO of the Avana Foundation. “The seemingly insurmountable adversity Brandi has faced is a reality that so many experience, silently and unseen. To have the courage to give voice to such disturbing personal experiences takes incredible character”.
